I’m gonna go blog, too.
Inner Space

The combination of Eurostile/Microgramma for display and Helvetica for text seemed to be a common motif for Disneyland’s “New Tomorrowland” of the late 60’s, when Eurostile still looked futuristic and Helvetica seemed the epitome of sophistication. That same aesthetic was carried over to Disney World’s Tomorrowland in the 70’s, where the typeface-duo dominated the land’s signscape until 1994 when the east coast park got its own “New Tomorrowland” makeover, and the Googie-esque elements were replaced or overlaid with art deco and constructivist designs that incorporated ITC Anna as the land’s standard font. Even in this new retro-future, some of the original typography remained prominent in Space Mountain right up to its 2009 refurb. The only remaining bit of Eurostile to my knowledge is the “CAROUSEL OF PROGRESS” lettering, in 3D stainless steel, visible on the Carousel’s outside wall when riding past on the Tomorowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.
